CM3225 Biomolecules

This module will feature the chemistry of carbohydrates, fats, oils and lipids; amino acids; peptides and proteins; nucleic acids. This will include their chemical structures, reactivity, mechanisms of action, synthesis and various techniques involved in their manupulation.

Molecules is an application for viewing three-dimensional renderings of molecules and manipulating them using your fingers. You can rotate the molecules by moving your finger across the display, zoom in or out by using two-finger pinch gestures, or pan the molecule by moving two fingers across the screen at once. These structures can be viewed in both ball-and-stick and space-filling visualization modes.

Chem3D

Our rating: 4.0 stars

Chem3D for iPad enables scientists to view and manipulate stunning 3D images of chemical and biochemical structures. Re-imagined for the iPad, the Chem3D app features a facile user interface to manipulate images using common touch, pinch and swipe gestures.

This application was designed as a tool for students to learn about the processes of glycogen, carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism, as well as the structures and properties of macro-(carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals).
