MOLECULAR DRAW & VIEW

SYM MO provides information for eight simple molecules: Lewis structure ; Symmetry elements list ; Symmetry elements depicted on the molecule ; Point group ; Molecular orbital (MO) diagram; Molecular orbitals ; Bond order ; Molecular electronic configuration.

This app provides a visual approach to organic chemistry. It is not meant to replace a textbook - it should be seen as a visual aid. The molecules and reactions are just briefly described. The main focus are the numerous animations of the molecules and reactions. Currently only alkanes, alkenes and alkynes are described. You can test your knowledge through a quiz of 40 questions.

Chem3D for iPad enables scientists to view and manipulate stunning 3D images of chemical and biochemical structures. Re-imagined for the iPad, the Chem3D app features a facile user interface to manipulate images using common touch, pinch and swipe gestures.

PyMOL on the iPad is a high-performance enterprise-class 3D molecular visualizer. You can display proteins, nucleic acids, and other chemical structures in a wide variety of representations: lines, sticks, ball-and-stick, spheres/CPK, ribbons, cartoons, putty, meshes, and surfaces. You can search for and download structures from the PDB, PubChem, and your own Dropbox folder.

Three Dimensional Molecule Viewer

Our rating: 3.2 stars

Molecules is an application for viewing three-dimensional renderings of molecules and manipulating them using your fingers. You can rotate the molecules by moving your finger across the display, zoom in or out by using two-finger pinch gestures, or pan the molecule by moving two fingers across the screen at once. These structures can be viewed in both ball-and-stick and space-filling visualization modes.

Elemental is the Dotmatics chemistry sketch utility provided at no charge within many Dotmatics products. Tap to draw chemical structures - Calculate cheminformatics properties . Sketch chemical reactions . Contains a built-in Periodic Table .

The Atomdroid app is a computational chemistry tool for the Android platform. It can be used as a molecular viewer/builder and contains local optimization and Monte Carlo simulation features.

Open the most common 3D molecule file formats saved on your SD card or choose from one of the 243 included molecules in the molecule library. Chemicals can also be searched and downloaded directly from the ChemDB and PDBeChem websites.

ChemDoodle Mobile is a calculator for drawn organic structures. The Draw window shows a typical ChemDoodle sketcher, where you can draw and store your structures. The 3D window allows you to view the drawn molecule in 3D. The Calculate page calculates properties and the Spectra page simulates NMR spectra. All spectra are interactive.

ChemSpider Mobile allows you to search the ChemSpider chemical database, provided by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Compounds can be searched by structure or by name, and browsed within the app. Results can be examined by jumping to the web page. Search structures are drawn using the powerful MMDS molecular diagram editor.

ChemPaint is an organic chemistry drawing App for the iPad. It features the ability to highlight and copy a canvas area as a high definition png image which you can paste in a presentation app like Keynote or in Pages. You can also add push arrows (ChemDoodle's smart push arrows) to depict a reaction mechanism. All drawing are now copiable and can be duplicate to easily draw reaction schemes.

Molecule Viewer 3D

Our rating: 3.8 stars

This app helps students understand the true structure of some common molecules by displaying anaglyphic wire frame representations of them. Molecules are displayed in a standard 2D view but when you select the 3D view they seemingly pop out of the screen. This is an entertaining novely app, but also a very instructional and educational one for anyone learning or just interested in chemistry.
